Finely Found It Interiors is owned and managed by Carida Muirhead

Carida has had a passionate interest in décor since childhood, but took a different career path initially. After school, she completed a BCom Honours (Business Economics) and later an MBA in Finance. 12 years working in investment, sales and marketing environments followed, giving Carida a thorough business foundation and very valuable experience.
Feeling the need for a change, though, and wanting to follow her early passion, Carida ventured into the world of interiors. In January 2004 she formed Ava’s Heirlooms – a business focused on importing décor products like contemporary ceramics and silk cushions from the East. Many of her sources also supplied the Thai Royal Family and Carida learnt a lot from these professionals with their eye for quality and detail. Products imported by Ava’s Heirlooms were sold to upmarket décor shops and interior designers in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. |
Carida realised she had a natural talent for interior décor and design to go with her passion during the renovation of her own home – a project in which she was intimately involved and gave her the confidence to pursue a career in interior design.
In 2007 Carida completed a Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration (with distinction) from the Calder School of Interior Design.
Carida also managed the Durban showroom of Hertex Fabrics, a role that required a variety of skills and activities, including:
During Carida’s time at Hertex, the Durban showroom moved from a situation where sales were stagnant, to winning numerous awards for sales performance.
Carida’s passion for interior décor, her training from Calder and her varied background in interiors (including sourcing decor, importing project requirements and an in-depth knowledge of fabrics and putting together décor schemes) all combine to give her the ability to manage all aspects of your interior decorating or design project from start to finish.
In addition, her previous commercial business background and education guarantee a high level of professionalism and the ability to work within the project budget.
At the beginning of 2018 Carida decided to expand the business beyond Durban, where she had successfully operated for a number of years, into Cape Town – where the business is now based. She enjoys on both commercial and residential spaces with a strong focus on Home Staging.
